Organic Natural Sunscreen Lotion Bar with Zinc Oxide

Natural Organic Sunscreen Lotion Bar Homemade Recipe with zinc oxide

We're so excited to share with you our own homemade recipe for organic and natural sunscreen made with zinc oxide. Make sure you purchase organic butters and oils whenever possible for the purest safest sunscreen possible that your whole family can enjoy!

Makes 1- 3 oz bar

Melt the following in a bowl over a double boiler.

2 tbls coconut oil

1/2 tbls shea butter

1 tbls cocoa butter

1/2 tbls pumpkin seed butter

2 tbls beeswax (you could also use candelilla for a vegan option)

When melted stir in 2 tbls of zinc oxide into the bowl of hot butters and oils. You will need to mash and stir the clumps of oxide for several minutes to thoroughly mix in. Once all the clumps are broken up pour into a soap mold or a silicone muffin tray that you could pop the bar out of.

Let sit and harden overnight. Pop out of mold and store in a bag or soap tin. Keep out of direct sunlight and heat to avoid melting.

If your bar is too hard you can lessen the amount of beeswax to soften slightly.

TO USE: Apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply at least every two hours. Do not use on children 6 months or younger.

WARNING: The safety of this product has not been determined by the FDA. Spending time in the sun increases your risk of skin cancer and early skin aging.

Enjoy!
