HELP SAVE Indigo

Meet “Indigo”

She is approx..14yr old beauty.  One of senior cats sure to win you over with lots of purrs and affection.  Indigo has been with us since 6/2/13.  She was a surrender.  Her owner loved her very much but due to his health conditions he was unable to care for and keep her. It was a very sad day for both of them.  Indigo is playful, litter box trained and likes other cats.  Indigo has been good with the dog that she lived with in her previous home, but is careful around new dogs. WVHS uses the ASPCA Meet Your Match Feline-ality Program to temperament test adoptable cats.  Indigo is a “Personal Assistant”.  For those who would like to meet Indigo and spend some time with her for possible adoption, she is located in our Cat Colony Room.

Black Cat Project

The Black Cat Project was started by Moody Sisters, Jess & Whitney, in the summer of 2013 to raise funds and awareness for black cat adoptions. The Moody Sisters sponsor a kennel at the local Wenatchee Valley Humane Society as well as spolight black cats at the shelter that have not been adopted.

Dogs have owners. Cats have staff.
What is it?
Why black cats?

Moody Sisters Jess & Whit are animal lovers by heart and have both owned black cats. They've experienced first hand that black cats can be just as loving, sassy and fun. Unfortunately black cats are the least likely to get adopted just because of their color. "A 2002 study in the Journal of Applied Animal Welfare Science that examined adoption rates over nine months in a California pound found that black cats were about half as likely to be adopted as tabby cats and two-thirds less likely than white cats."

Reasons to Adopt Black Cats

1. They are natural born ninjas.

2. They have epic invisibility skillz.

3. Black is always in fashion.

4. Black accessories are a must.

5. They have a black belt in cuddling.

6. It's like owning a mini black panther.

7. They're always dressed for cocktail parties.

8. Holding them is very slimming.

9. They match any decor.

10. They're least likely to be adopted.
